What you can check for free

Enter a 17-character VIN to decode the vehicle and, when available, see its specifications, model recalls, complaints and crash-test ratings. Some vehicles also have a factory window sticker. Auction photos and dealer listings load when you request the free history. Coverage depends on the vehicle and source; a missing result does not mean a car has no history.

A VIN decoder is different from a history report

Decoding identifies the car described by the VIN. It does not prove the car is accident-free, show every previous owner, or certify its present mileage. A paid CARFAX or AutoCheck report adds the records available for that individual vehicle. The free search and the full report serve different purposes.

Use the free results to check the listing

Compare the model, year, engine and body with the advertisement and the VIN displayed on the car. Check both the windshield VIN and the door label. If photos or older listings are available, compare them with the current listing and ask the seller about differences.

How the paid step works

After the free search, choose CARFAX, AutoCheck or both. The price is shown before payment. Clicking Buy opens the payment choice: PayPal or USDT on TRC20. If a supplier cannot confirm report availability in advance, it is checked during delivery; if no report can be delivered, our refund policy applies.
